The Nongak (Folk Music) of Gimjae is Honam Wudo type (Left part of Jeonra-do) just like the surrounding villages such as Jeongeup, Buan, Iri and Okgu. Byeokgoljae, which enabled the agricultural cultures and also is the oldest and the biggest reservoir in the country, is located here. Geumman plain, the center of the Honam plains, is the base of rice farming cultures. Therefore, many folk customs related to the rice farming are left here in Gimjae. Ipseok tug of war, Sangyong-nori (Double dragons) and folk music are the examples.

Folk music has been inherited from Lee Hongbaek, who died 60 years ago through Kim Dosam, Hyeon Panswae, Gim Mundal (Human cultural asset No. 11) to Baek Namyun (Intangible cultural asset). Baek Namyun is the best performer of Chaesangmo (hat with long and slim paper) with Beomgo (Little hand drum). He recorded everything about the Wudo Nongak that Gim Dosam performed. He also invented 12-bal Sangmo (hat with 12 feet long slim paper) and performed himself. Surprisingly, he explained every single performance with the detailed pictures in his book.

The Wudo Nongak of Gimjae won the grand prize from Nongak part of the 12th Jeonju Daesaseup Nori in 1986, and the grand prize from National Nongak Contest held by National Nongak Association in 1988.

The Nongak of Gimjae is composed of Yongdanggi (Big flag), Nonggi (Flag), Napal (Bugle), Jwasang (Sedentary figure), Jung Jwasang (Figure of monk), Chonggak Jwasang (Figure of unmarried man), Sangswae (1st Small gong), Buswae (2nd Small gong), Samswae (3rd Small gong), Jing (Gong), Seoljanggo (1st Hourglass-shaped drum), Bujanggo (2nd Hourglass-shaped drum), Samjanggo (3rd Hourglass-shaped drum), Subeopgu (1st Small drum), Bubeopgu (2nd Small drum), 3 Beopgu (3rd Small drum), 8 Beopgu (8th Small drum), Daeposu (Hunter, Main performing crew), Changbu (Actor), Gudaejinsa (Monk), Yangban (Nobleman), Gaksi (Bride), Jorijung (Monk), Budong (a couple of little kids) and Junggwangdae (Clown). The basic rhythm is composed of Naedurim (Intro), Insagut (Greeting rhythm), Neurin Ochae (Slow 5 type), Pungnyeon-gut (Rhythm for rich year), Yangsando, Neurin Samchae (Slow 3 type), Jajin Samchae (Fast 3 type), Jajinmori and Gutgeori.
