It is one of the folk plays of agrarian society, which helps promote
the productivity by fertilizing the land. On one day before the 15th
of January by the lunar calendar, young men set the fire on the levees
of rice paddy to burn weeds.
Each village tries to set the biggest fire since they belive that
the bigger fire brings them good luck. People belive that the rats
in winner village go to the others.
It eradicates rats and vermin and also promotes the sprouts. |
